Getting Started

February 3, 2026

Welcome to the LiveryLab Knowledgebase. This guide will help you get started with creating professional emergency-vehicle liveries.

What is LiveryLab?

LiveryLab is a resource created to support the changing needs of the livery design community. Over time, fewer new designers have been entering the space, and many lack access to solid foundational information. This project was built to organize and present the standards, tools, and workflows that modern livery designers rely on.

What began as a small GitBook with only a few lightly maintained pages, has since grown into an actively updated documentation hub focused on the core technical requirements for producing clean and consistent emergency vehicle liveries.

What's Included Now?

Currently, the documentation includes:

  • Decal Rotational Values – Reference angles to ensure perfect alignment across common emergency-vehicle platforms.

  • AO Map Opacity Values – Recommended visibility levels for blending depth into your textures.

  • Photoshop Keybinds & Workspaces – Optimized setups for raster-based workflows.

  • Illustrator Keybinds & Workspaces – Essential tools for vector-based decal creation.

As the site expands, it will evolve into a complete knowledgebase covering everything from beginner fundamentals to advanced production techniques.
